Overview of JNCEAA

◯ Objectives

To foster awareness among persons concerned, toward enhancement of quality  assurance and CEA in Japanese higher education, and to promote cooperation among CEA agencies and the sharing of information.

JNCEAA consists of the following 12 CEA agencies:

・ National Institution for Academic Degrees and QualityEnhancement of Higher  Education (NIAD-QE)

・ Japan Institution for Higher Education Evaluation (JIHEE)

・ Japan Association for College Accreditation (JACA)

・ Japan Law Foundation (JLF)

・ Japanese Institute of International Accounting Education (JIIAE)

・ Japan Institute of Midwifery Evaluation (JIME)

・ Foundation of the Japanese Certification Board for Clinical Psychologists (FJCBCP)

・ The Institute for the Evaluation of Teacher Education (IETE)

・ Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (JABEE)

◯ Agenda

(1) Improvement of the qualifications of evaluators

・Enhancement of training for the development of evaluators at universities and   other institutions and evaluation agencies

・Further publicity of the CEA system

(2) Utilization of evaluation results and measures for universities and other institutions   to  participate actively in CEA

・Establishment of ongoing relationships between CEA agencies and universities and other institutions

・Enhancement of the IR function on campuses

・Evaluation of universities and other institutions that engage actively in CEA

(3) Consideration of new directions in evaluation activities

・Conduct of various kinds of research into topics such as trends related to evaluation in other countries and the sharing of research results

・Consideration and research into improvement measures for issues related to evaluation methods and other matters

・Consideration of new evaluation paradigms in light of the social situation

・Consideration of ways to disseminate information in and outside Japan

◯ Main initiatives to date

(1) Active dissemination of evaluation results, university information, information  on the  CEA system, and other information

・Holding of joint press conferences to introduce evaluation results and examples of improvements in university education

・Launching of a website for JNCEAA and the production of contents such as lists of evaluation results and explanation of  the CEA system

・Explaining CEA at briefings for persons concerned with upper secondary schools

(2) Consideration of ways to use university portraits

・Consideration of ways to use university portraits in CEA and the submission of “Requests for Enhancement of University Portraits” to the Committee for University and College Portraits

(3) Development of personnel at CEA agencies

・Consideration and implementation of training programs to increase the abilities of personnel
